i won't be a teenager anymore.

19 has been a big year for me. there were a lot of new things. a lot of changes.

i'll miss 19, but i look forward to 20.

so, exciting,  i'm home from college for the summer, which is pretty freaking sweet, as it's not even may yet.

i've been home about six hours, and i'm already flipping channels. summer hasn't changed at all, and i love it.

.... holy hell, what is MTV doing playing a music video? it's not 4am, which is the only other time i've found them playing music videos. curious. maybe playing music videos on music video channels has become some sort of strange new television fad.

the thrills just don't stop! it's the cake show! the cake show is on, and they will make cake in the shape of animals, for a dazzling mix of food that is delicious and adorable. (ooh! now vegetarians can have food with a face and eat it too!)

i could continue to  write about this action packed first night back, but the excitement is just too distracting!

maybe tomorrow i will carry on the action by reading crappy magazines and watching grey's anatomy on my laptop.

mmm, summer vacation.

thank you for inventing amazing magical headphones that block out the sound of my roommate's horrid grating voice, which has been tormenting me for an hour because she is too rude to take a phone conversation outside while i try to study.

these headphones are wonderful at amplifying the songs in the playlist i have on in the background, made up of tracks that all have the word "kill" or "die" in the title. it's turning out to be quite the inspiring listening session.

so on the downside, my hair straightener broke this morning. i had slept on wet hair, so now my head resembles something like the coat of and agitated cat.

on the upside, this gave me a good excuse to wear my red!hat. and i get to go buy a new straightening iron.

i rearranged all my furniture when i got back yesterday, and i like the ways it looks, but it has it's cons. like the fact that there's only about a foot of standing space in front of the sink now, because my bed is pushed right up behind it. i don't mind it much though, as i don't spend much time near the sink.


and now i'm off to target, for mandatory back to school shopping. mmmmhmm.

mmm, christmas eve.

i love the anticipation. the waiting of the night before, the one night of the year when we are all determined to be in bed before midnight. the one night where it's okay to leave food (for santa of course) out on the counter. and the only night we're allowed to leave the twinkle lights on after we go to bed.

and then in the morning there will be cinnamon rolls and (turkey) bacon and presents presents presents.

i'll be honest, i think the presents are the best part, but i do like giving maybe a bit more than getting. it's nice to surprise people. and i got the family some pretty nifty gifts this year.

welcome to my morning.

it is sunday. a day where i usually get to lay in bed until at least 10.

but not today. oh no, not today.

why?

because i woke up to some hard core 'oh god i'm dying i'm being mutilated someone is trying to kidnap me' screaming. this horrible, unholy sound was coming from my niece, whom we are babysitting.

mum, surprisingly enough, had not been roused by this horrendous sound, so i ran into baby's room (seeing that she was not being mutilated or kidnapped) and picked her up.

she giggled at me.

i call this a deliberate discourtesy. she just laughed.

and i think she killed a nice dream i was having, which is a shame, since i have been dreaming about my violent murder for some time now. a nice dream would have been lovely. sigh.

good hateful morning, universe. i am angry with you.

so my dad made my 'i'm sorry' cookies with hershey kisses in the center. which would not mean anything, except that he also actually managed to open his mouth and properly apologise.

i don't think i'm allowed to be angry anymore, even if i know he didn't really mean it.

and i would no longer be justified in returning his christmas gift.

so he didn't really mean it and i don't really accept, but we'll never talk about it again, and i suppose with us that's as good as it gets.

family is hard.

what a glorious relief.

i feel so amazed to have been a part of this piece of history. it's nice to be a part of something positive.

the prospect of  being near my disgruntled republican parents even briefly this weekend has become a dark thought, but i'm happy.

this is thrilling.

this whole persistently waking up up 30 minutes before my alarm thing? not a fan. and then, on the rare morning where this doesn't occur, the trash truck comes. and clunks. real real loud. gah.

on the upside, i've made a nice discovery. the hot chocolate in the campus cafe (the kind that almost always tastes chalky and bitter) actually tastes nice when they make it with soymilk. hoo-ray yummy hot chocolate.

and i get to see people this weekend. hurrah!
